Call for patients with psoriasis, Crohn’s disease, and type 1 diabetes

Patients with psoriasis, Crohn’s disease, and type 1 diabetes are invited to consider donating adipose tissue for research and for the implementation of technology into manufacturing practice.

The donated adipose tissue will be used for:

• isolation of mesenchymal stem cells and more complete validation of the sorting prototype within the DEPCELL project;
• analysis of the isolated stem cells in order to assess risks associated with autoimmune diseases and comorbidities, as well as their possible impact on the further use of these cells in personalised therapy;
• determination of the quality and potency of the sorted cells;
• experimental manufacturing of advanced therapy medicinal products.

This contribution will help establish the basis for initiating the manufacture of advanced therapy medicinal products for patients as soon as the relevant legal framework is adopted in Latvia.

DEPCELL — a project focused on the development and validation of cell-sorting technologies.
ATMP (Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products) — advanced therapy medicinal products.
HE (Hospital Exemption) — a regulatory exemption that allows hospitals, under specific conditions, to manufacture and use advanced therapy medicinal products for individual patients.
